Congratulations to Charlotte Sanders, a recent UGA graduate who majored in religion and history, whose essay “The Female Body and Christian Mysticism in the Late Medieval Era” has been published in The Classic, the Writing Intensive Program’s journal of undergraduate writing and research. This article analyses the work and lives of Medieval female mystics and Beguines to show how women harnessed their relationship with their body and femininity in order to create a framework of spiritual emancipation.
