PhD Candidate, Instructor of Record Dr. Daryl G. Bloodsaw is a PhD student in the Department of Religion at the University of Georgia. He is from Monroe, GA and holds a DMin from Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School (Rochester, NY), an MDiv from New York Theological Seminary (New York, NY), and an AB in Political Science from the University of Georgia. His research interests include self-esteem, belongingness, and the development of positive Black self-identity through Black religious thought socially, politically, and economically from 1865-1920. For over two decades he worked in corporate America in advertising and marketing; he was a community activist in New York City (Manhattan and Brooklyn), has received numerous awards and recognitions for his contributions and leadership on the local and state levels, and is currently active in the city of Athens. He serves as the senior pastor of the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church West in Athens. For three years, Dr. Bloodsaw taught Introduction to Old Testament Studies and Introduction to New Testament Studies for New York Theological Seminary in the only masters degree program inside a prison in the United States, Sing Sing Correctional Facility, in Ossining, NY. Currently, he teaches introductory courses in religion at the University of Georgia.
